Jacob B. Mitchell specializes in digital evidence. If the government is trying to use a digital device such as your cell phone, computer, or location data against you, you call him and he helps you.
By using his expertise in electronic discovery review, cell phones, cell sites, and forensic images of electronic devices you can gain the advantage in your defense.
He began developing his expertise while doing electronic discovery on cases involving American International Group (AIG) including the “ILFC trade secrets case” and the “stock-drop” class action filed during the height of the subprime mortgage crisis. As his expertise developed, he began thinking about how to apply his skills to help people. He found a need in criminal defense. Technology had made the task of the criminal defense attorney representing people even more daunting than it already was. He began working with veteran criminal defense attorneys and opened his own practice. He is qualified as an expert on the New York 18-B panel.
Additionally, Mr. Mitchell has assisted consumer debtors and homeowners facing foreclosure. Before he was a lawyer, he taught Middle School Science here in Manhattan.
Mr. Mitchell received his B.A. in Political Science from Bard College and his J.D. from New York Law School.
